Roles and Responsibilities
- Represent and act for NWS as a Project Controls specialist
- Lead a group of Project Control professionals within the organisation.
- Provide client facing service delivery and oversight of the teams which are deployed into each directorate
- You will lead the development and implementation of project control strategy, processes, procedures, tools, and techniques to track project performance against the baseline
- Conduct and communicate complex cost and planning analysis, identify trends, and provide corrective recommendations effectively
- You will effectively communicate with stakeholders to provide regular status reports for a wide portfolio of projects at various points in the project delivery cycle
- You will perform regular functional peer reviews and support the Project Controls Quality Assurance process
- You will interface and maintain relationships with internal multidisciplinary teams to contribute to our portfolio of change by undertaking regular audits of NWS Project Controls activities to determine maturity and identify areas for continuous improvement in governance, processes, training, tools, and technology
- Lead and have line management accountability for professionals delivering Projects Controls services and responsible for staff development
- As a Project Controls specialist, you will keep up to date with evolving business requirements, industry trends and regulatory change

- Deputise for the Senior Portfolio Management Lead and on occasion the Head of EPMO
- Lead Special Interest groups which are project controls related and establish connections with outward facing organisations to share learning and deploy best practice approaches
- Act as design authority reviewer for all project control related training and education
Experience Required
Essential
- Professional qualification in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a relevant degree in a related field
- Extensive experience working in complex controls environment, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Proven experience in cost management and planning services within major projects or programmes
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Project Management tools (e.g., MS Excel, portfolio software, MS Project, PRA, Primavera P6)
- Knowledge of integrating cost, planning and risk
- Management and leadership skills
- Ability to lead by example and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail to validate and check project controls inputs, recording and reports produced and provide corrective action analysis
Desirable skills:
- Familiarity with how projects and programmes are delivered in the Nuclear sector
- Accreditation with a professional body and commitment to professional development
