Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivery of Disposability Assessment and engagement for Nuclear New Build and other waste packagers outside the NDA Group (Others). Ensure integration with wider programme of Disposability Assessments, engagements, and programming/prioritisation.
- Ensure that expert waste management advice and guidance is provided to assigned customers on the production of waste packages to align with NWS standards and specifications, and the geological disposal concept.
- Fulfil knowledge management requirements for Assurance of Disposability for Nuclear New Build and Others assessments to support the future disposal of HAW.
Experience Required
Essential
- Degree in a science or engineering subject, or equivalent experience in role.
- Experience in a management and/or leadership role.
- Extensive experience in oversight, critical review and challenge of technical activities.
- Technical report writing to a good standard of English.
- Resilience and proven ability to behave professionally in challenging circumstances.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships.
Desirable
- Member of a relevant professional institute with an interest in working towards chartered status.
- Extensive knowledge of radioactive waste packaging processes and UK waste packaging plant, and of options for packaging of legacy wastes and potential wastes from new reactors.
- Extensive knowledge of radioactive waste disposal practices and requirements.
- Experience of arrangements for developing and reporting UK radioactive waste inventories, including relevant tools.
- Experience in supervising multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment, particularly regulatory processes as applied to waste disposal, operational process plant and construction sites.
- Diverse knowledge of the NWS portfolio of waste management, disposal at LLWR and GDF demands.
